Located in the Marlborough Sounds, both Camel Point and Beatrix Bay have had a long history of mussel farming with Beatrix Bay having 36 existing farms, and Camel Point having four around the headland. The coastal landcover is a mix of established native vegetation and recovering shrubland. We supported the proposal of further mussel farms and those were subject to Council and Environment Court hearings.
