Glasson Huxtable were appointed as landscape architects to the New Brighton Splash Park, Christchurch by DCL in early 2017. The project has been a huge success since it's opening in December 2017. The design incorporates a whale pool with water features and underwater lighting, a splash play area with water cannons, water fountains and play features. The playground also incorporates a large waka play feature with a number of other structures. The design is well integrated into the public domain, providing amenity features including coastal planting, hardscape patterns, seating and evening lighting displays. The design team included consultants from Select Contracts (lead consultant / project delivery) and AWA Architects. Glasson Huxtable have also worked on the wider seafront redevelopment at New Brighton which includes the adjacent He Puna Taimoana Hot Pools.
