This is one of the best rural public spaces in Canterbury containing a spectacular landscape, forests, historic buildings from the 1860’s onwards and machinery that were once driven from a waterwheel. A range of recreational activities are also provided such as horse riding, walking tracks, golf course and adventure playground. The objective for this project was to create a recreational facility for public use, restore the pioneering elements for an educational feature and maintain the sense of ruralness.
