​Large scale ecological restoration of a 75ha former coal mining site. The ecological restoration included wetlands, woodland, lake and overburden areas. The project reinforced a sense of place by retaining mining relics. Recreational opportunities including abseiling, high/low ropes, walking, kayaking, mountain biking and bird watching have been catered for. Over 250,000 native seedlings were planted, resulting in the onset of the regeneration process, improving the PH of the lake and attracting birdlife to the area.
